National desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Mission Gaganyaan. Meeting was held to assess the progress of Gaganyaan Mission and also included outline of future of India’s Space Exploration. The information was shared by Prime Minister office.
During the high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi on Gaganyaan Mission, Department of Space presented a comprehensive overview of the Mission, including various technologies developed so far such as human-rated launch vehicles and system qualification. It was noted that around 20 major tests, including 3 uncrewed missions of the Human Rated Launch Vehicle (HLVM3) are planned in the coming time. The meeting evaluated the mission’s readiness and affirmed its launch in the year 2025.
During meeting PM called upon Indian scientists to work towards interplanetary missions that would include a Venus Orbiter Mission and a Mars Lander. PM also directed that india should aim for new ambitious goals which includes setting up of ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.
It should be noted that Mission Gaganyaan is mission of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) which aims to launch human beings in the lower orbit of earth and bring them safely by making a safe landing in either Bay of Bengal or Arabian sea. ISRO is all set to conduct first test of Gaganyaan mission on October 21.
