ECI Announces schedule of Rajya Sabha elections in Punjab; Polling to held on June 10

CHANDIGARH: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday (May 13) announced the schedule of the Rajya Sabha elections for two seats in Punjab. The voting for two seats from the state will held at June 10.

Punjab’s chief electoral officer, S Karuna Raju said that the issue of the notification is on May 24 and the last date for filing nominations is on May 31. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on June 1 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is on June 3. He said that the voting is scheduled to held on June 10 from 9 am to 4 pm. Election counting will take place on the same day at 5 pm. He added that the election will be completed before June 13.

Notably, the elections schedule was announced as the term of office of the two Rajya Sabha members, Ambika Soni and Balwinder Singh from Punjab, is due to expire on July 4 this year.
