NEW-DELHI: India reported 1,829 new infections and 33 deaths during the last 24 hours on Wednesday (May 18), said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this, the death toll has been mounted to 5,24,293. The daily positivity rate of the country stands at 0.42%.
The top five states which registered maximum cases are Delhi with 393 cases, followed by Kerala with 324 cases, Haryana with 275 cases, Maharashtra with 266 cases and Uttar Pradesh with 129 cases.
According to the Health Ministry, there are 15,647 active cases and 4,25,87,259 recovered/discharged/cured cases in the country. The current active case rate stands at 0.04 percent, recovery rate at 98.75%.
India conducted 84.49 crore COVID-19 tests in the last 24 hours. As far as vaccination is concerned, the total number of vaccine jabs administered so far went up to 191.65 crore (1,91,65,00,770.) under the nationwide vaccination drive.
