NEW-DELHI: India reported 2,827 new infections and 24 deaths during the last 24 hours on Thursday (May 12), said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this, the death toll has been mounted to 5,24,181.
According to the Health Ministry, there are 19,067 active cases and 4,25,70,165 recovered/discharged/cured cases in the country. The current active case rate stands at 0.04 percent, recovery rate at 98.74%. The daily positivity rate is at 0.60 percent.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to participate in the Second Global COVID Virtual Summit on May 12 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden. The Summit aims to galvanize new actions to address the continued challenges of the COVID pandemic and build a stronger health security architecture around the world.
India conducted 84.24 crore (84,24,58,167) COVID-19 tests in the last 24 hours. As far as vaccination is concerned, the total number of vaccine jabs administered so far went up to 190.83 crore (1,90,83,96,788) under the nationwide vaccination drive.
