COVID-19: Philippines Adds 3,617 New Infections; Total Tally Reaches To 28.4 Lakhs

MANILA: The Philippines' health department on Saturday reported 3,617 new Coronavirus cases and 43 more deaths. With this, the total number of caseload has climbed to 2,847,486 in the country. The death toll has raised to 51,545. 

The Health department data showed that Metro Manila, home to over 13 million people, is the region with the most active and new cases in the Southeast Asian country. Jonas del Rosario, spokesperson of the Philippine General Hospital, noted an increase in the admission of COVID-19 patients, including children.

As per the Health Department, Philippines has reported a hike in cases due to high mobility and poor compliance with safety health protocols during the holiday season. The country ​tested more than 23.5 million people since the outbreak of the pandemic.
