Time fixed for bursting firecrackers on Dussehra, Diwali and other festivals, orders DC Sarangal

Jalandhar: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar  Vishesh Sarangal has fixed the timing of bursting of firecrackers on Dussehra, Diwali, Gurupurva, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The District Magistrate, in exercise of powers under Section 144, has issued an order that no person, other than an authorized person, within the limits of Jalandhar district shall be able to display or sell storage firecrackers or other explosive material commonly used on the occasion of Dussehra, Diwali and Gurupurva festivals.

According to the orders issued, firecrackers can be busted on Dussehra from 6 pm to 7 pm, on Diwali from 8 pm to 10 pm, on Guruparva (birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji) from 4 am to 5 am and  9 pm to 10 pm. Christmas and New Year are scheduled from 11:55 pm to 12:30 am.

The order also states that no person will be allowed to burst firecrackers except on these occasions. The police department will ensure that the display of firecrackers takes place only during the stipulated time and that banned firecrackers are not sold. Compliance with these orders will be ensured by the SDM, Executive Magistrate and Police Department.

Apart from this, to ensure the safety of people on the occasion of Dussehra, crowds should not be allowed to gather near railway gates so that no untoward incident occurs. Therefore, the DSP of the concerned areas. At the same time, the station in-charge has been instructed to keep complete surveillance and ensure strict compliance with these orders.
