Justice Ritu Bahri assumes post of acting CJ of Punjab and Haryana HC

Chandigarh: Justice Ritu Bahri assumed the charge of acting chief justice of Punjab and Haryana high court. After taking charge she released a roster of division of benches, for urgent, motion and regular cases. The roster will be effective from Tuesday. Today before lunch she will hear the PIL and human rights related petitions with Justice Nidhi Chaudhary and after lunch, she will hear the appeal against the decisions of the single bench with Justice Aman Chaudhary.

She is first woman to assume charge of acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. There are currently 56 judges in the High Court and 12 of them are women. After assuming the post of Acting Chief Justice, Justice Ritu Bahri is the senior most judge of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. She succeeded RS Jha who retired on October 13.
