Delhi-Katra expressway to usher new era of development : CM Mann

Punjab desk:  Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that the Delhi-Katra Expressway will usher in a new era of unprecedented development and prosperity in the state.

Reviewing this project in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Chief Minister said that the work on this important project will be completed soon and it will be dedicated to the people soon. He said that the state government is already taking full cooperation and coordination with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to complete this project soon.  CM said that apart from giving a big boost to the economic activity in this area, this project will open new avenues of employment for the youth.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that this project will give a boost to trade and commerce in the state, due to which Punjab will emerge as a leading state in the country. He said that with the intervention of the Union Minister, work on this project will accelerate further, which will give impetus to the economy of Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that this highway will not only encourage economic activity in this area but will also provide convenience to the devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Dham to offer prayers.

The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to the overall development of the state, for which more such projects will be brought in Punjab. He said that after the completion of this important project, there will be saving of time and money for the pilgrims going from Delhi to Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, especially to Mata Vaishno Devi Dham. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this 254 km long highway is being built at a cost of Rs 11,510 crore and it will pass through nine districts of Punjab – Jalandhar, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Patiala, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn-Taran and Gurdaspur.
